Caroline Redman Lusher, the inspirational founder of Rock Choir, has been awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the King’s New Year Honours for her outstanding achievement in music and significant contribution to charity. This prestigious recognition places her alongside iconic figures such as The Beatles, Adele, and Ed Sheeran and highlights her exemplary musical achievements and pioneering contribution of the contemporary choir movement in the UK.

Caroline’s journey began with a simple yet powerful vision, to create an accessible, glamorous and inclusive platform where people from all walks of life could come together and sing contemporary, rock and pop songs with no previous musical experience and without the need to audition or read music. Since founding Rock Choir in 2005, she has transformed the landscape of community contemporary singing. She has inspired tens of thousands of the British public to discover their voices and forge meaningful friendships while enhancing their confidence and self-esteem using the many life-affirming performance opportunities on offer.

Rock Choir has played a vital role in uplifting the mental health, physical health and wellbeing of the general public who take part in any of the 400 weekly rehearsal sessions across the UK. Under Caroline’s inspiring leadership, Rock Choir is recognised as a national phenomenon and much-loved experience, with over 30,000 members taking part across the UK. She has cultivated a deep sense of belonging whilst spreading joy, making a huge and positive impact on hundreds of communities.

Her dedication to charity work is equally laudable. Caroline has led Rock Choir in thousands of fundraising initiatives, raising awareness and substantial amounts of funds for both local and national causes. These have included campaigns for the Mental Health Foundation, Comic Relief, Cash for Kids, Refuge, Missing People and Nordoff Robbins. She firmly believes in the power of music and singing to uplift and support those in need and her work has made a tangible difference to countless lives, charities and organisations. Caroline’s commitment to fostering community spirit through music has not only enriched the lives of her choir members and team but has inspired many, leaving a lasting legacy in the communities Rock Choir serves.

Caroline Redman Lusher comments

“I’m overwhelmed with the news and thrilled to be given this prestigious honour. I feel fortunate every day, not only to be able to work with the greatest pop and rock songs of our time, but to share them with the British public and in turn, improve lives. I wouldn’t have achieved any of the success and longevity without my dedicated, loyal and talented team who believe in me, believe in the magic of Rock Choir and help me to look after the tens of thousands of the British public, the wonderful Rockies, who take part in Rock Choir each week. Communities, organisations and charities all benefit from Rock Choir too; there’s a tick in every box as well as natural happiness and joy at every turn. As you can probably tell, there’s a lot of love in Rock Choir and I’m thrilled to celebrate this exciting news with my family, team and the Rockies.”
